Last Minute Changes

One of the things that can be considered very rude in the dating world is the last minute change.  If for any reason you have to make a change to the time you are going to meet for the date or the place, then you need to be extra apologetic and say you’re sorry for the change.

Last minute changes can throw off people’s entire balance.  If they were expecting one thing and have to face another, then it may be too much for them to handle.  Most people can go with the flow, but there are some that are incapable of doing so.

Last minute changes that involve having to reschedule only minutes before the dating are the worst.  Try to give you date enough time to know what is going to happen so that they can change their plans accordingly.  The worst thing you could possibly do would be to stand them up without a phone call at all.  Consider how you would want to be treated in the same situation and act accordingly.

It is unfortunate that something may have come up to postpone your date.  Just remain apologetic and try to reschedule for either another time that night or another day altogether.  Your date will respect you for the thoughtfulness and you might still be able to salvage this date yet.

The Smart Detective

Being smart and safe when it comes to online dating should just be expected.  Of course, it would be nice to think that you live in a world where no one is out to hurt you and that the birds sing and crickets dance in a cartoon world of imagination and wonder, but realistically, the world isn’t that great.  That is why you should be a bit of a detective about the person that you are going to date.

If you have met someone online and you would like to get to know more about them through a date, then you already have an advantage.  If you know their name by now or their email, you can find out quite a bit of information about them from just doing a simple Google search.  It is perfectly OK to try to find out more about a person before you meet them in person.  In fact, it is a very good way to make sure that you are not meeting a killer or a crazy person for drinks and dinner later on tonight.

Should you want to go any further in your investigation, you could always do a background check on them.  It is completely possible to find out nearly anything about anyone for only a few dollars.  If you think that is a bit extreme, then consider all of the stories that you have heard about people going out on dates and never showing up again.  It isn’t just about physical danger though.  While it is important to make sure that your date is safe, it is also a good idea to make sure that they are not married.

There are a few people in the online dating world that lie.  Of those that lie, most of them are lying about their marital status.  If you want to make sure that you are not dating a married person, a background check could also provide that information.

Online dating – definitely don’ts!

It is easy to tell you what you should be doing to be successful with online dating but what about those things that you should not be doing. There are so many mistakes that can be easily made with this internet quest for love and the best way to avoid them is to learn of them!

1.       Firstly if you are looking at profiles of potential dates and some of them don’t have photos, steer clear. In all fairness, if they couldn’t have been bothered to spend the time to put a photo on their profile, they are probably not taking the internet dating thing seriously. Not only that but it could be an indication of a scam, a married dater or a joke.

2.       Staying on the theme of profiles, again if they have not put any effort into their online dating profile at all and simply threw together two or three lines of text then it is also an indication that they are probably not going to be good for you.

3.       If you receive a message from someone that wants to talk and potentially date you and it looks as if it is a generic message that could have been copied and pasted to everyone that they thought looked hot, again it might be best to respectfully decline. If a person cannot spend a couple of minutes of their time to write a personal message, you are possible looking at what is usually called a “player!”

There are so many things that you should be on the lookout for when you start your online dating quest but these are just a few that might just help you to make life a little bit easier!

Online Profile

If you have decided to try your hand at online dating, there are a few things you can do to give yourself the best chance of finding true love.  First, make sure you post pictures.  Updated ones are preferable; you know you don’t want to be lied to, so why would you do the same to someone else?    Creating the perfect online profile also helps.

There are many different categories of information that can be filled in; movies, music, interests, etc.  Put in what you really like, what your interests really are, and not what you think others are looking for.  People are looking for someone who really does share their interests, and isn’t just pretending to do so.  If you like playing a specific video game put it in there (although adding that you spend every waking hour playing the game probably isn’t the best idea).

Many sites also offer free quizzes to take.  This is a very easy way for you and others to search similar interests, while sharing some extra information about yourself.  A lot of times, you can search for people who have taken the same quizzes, as well as have gotten the same results as you did.
